Software Freedom Day (SFD) is a worldwide celebration of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). Our goal in this celebration is to educate the worldwide public about of the benefits of using high quality FOSS in education, in government, at home, and in business -- in short, everywhere! The non-profit organization Software Freedom International coordinates SFD at a global level, providing support, giveaways and a point of collaboration, but volunteer teams around the world organize the local SFD events to impact their own communities. This festival offers the students and Open Source Representatives to have an insight into diverse fields of Open Source Tools. The interaction that prevails between the students at the fest is a unique characteristic which helps them to develop their technical skills.
SFD’10 is a platform for future computer science engineers to expand their horizon. We hope to give the students a feel of real industrial world. A wide range of events are hosted by SFD‘10 which aims to inform, inject and impel that learning about science can be fun. This website provides a calendar of events for young people like you.Every year in my college ( Jaya engineering college) we conduct software freedom day to promote usage of open source software to many school students even lot of college students ill actively participated for the grant success of the events .Our Hod M.Kumaran sir have formed a foss club to indulge in knowledge gaining activity for the students and to develop the awarness of free software .
Jaya FOSS Club (JFC) has been formed with the motive of embracing people into the Free Software / Open Source fraternity. We aim to accomplish this by organizing a stratum of programs targeting various aspects. We aim to achieve all our goals with support from various GNU/Linux user groups as well as students and their earnest efforts. JFC aims to leave a mark for the student generations to come, which in turn shall carry on the legacy of FOSS.
